Well here we have it... a big honkin chicken.
This is an interesting piece actually... I like it... but don't. Technically, there's little wrong with it (at least compared to my other pieces). He fits fairly well with the reference shots, and it's a sound piece. The problem is, it only 'half-way' works in my opinion. The standard simple straight on pose just doesn't convey the funkyness of this chicken. I mean, this is an 8 foot tall chicken... there should be comedy here!! I tried to put in a little bit of levity (rubber chicken, baby chick), but I'm not sure it's working. Heck, at one point I even added a road in the BG (as in, why did the...). I came to realize, it's the stance. To pull off a humourous pic, I'd have to mess around with the perspective and pose (more much cartooney). Ah well, live and learn. |

An overly exaggerated pose, ala IMAGE COMICS-esque would have worked I think to communicate the tongue-in-cheek humor without compromising the integrity of the chicken-man!
