Captain America: The First Avenger

This is both a tribute to the movie coming out, and part of a contest over on penciljack[link]

Let's hope this entry gets me a couple of votes.

I like how ambitious it is. Filling a scene with characters isn't an easy feat, at least not for me. I really like the lighting and all the detail that went into the various characters, especially Captain America and the soldier on the far right.

Still, overall the image feels a little bland. There is literally no background and the ground surface doesn't seem to have much going on. Where are they going? Where are they coming from? The image doesn't give us a lot to be interested in aside from Cap himself. And like someone else mentioned, Cap's legs look awkward. His forward foot appears twisted at nearly a 90-degree angle from the way his torso is facing; it makes me feel like he's about to trip and break his ankle. I will also mention that there appears to be a contrast in styles between the way you drew the characters overall, and the way you drew Cap's raised hand, which looks very cartoonish and simplified in shape. Obviously this is too far gone for edits but if you ever decided to revisit it, I would suggest posing Cap facing directly forward, running toward the "camera", and maybe some explosions or clouds to create visual interest in the background.

Great work overall. You continue to impress with these well composed, complete illustrations.
